Are you thinking about having a Halloween Party this fall season? Consider these 5 creative tips while planning.

  1. Once you’ve decided to throw a Halloween party, your next order of business is to pick out a theme! For an adult party, try a couple theme and have everyone come in pairs, dressed as famous couples. For instance, Rome and Juliet or Tom & Jerry. It does not have to be limited to groups of 2! Encourage guests to join together and think of creative couples, duos, trios and groups they could arrive as!
  2. Plan your party in advance and get your invitations out 1-2 weeks prior to the event (so this weekend is perfect timing!) To avoid any confusion, clearly state instructions about your Halloween party theme, costumes and when the party starts and ends. Be sure to include if prizes will be given out and if food will be served.
  3. What’s a party without goodies? Try dressing up your food to look like gross things such as eyeballs, body parts, bloody ligaments and creepy creatures! It’s easy to dress up bowls, plates, cups and tables.
  4. Dress up your house! From your lawn to your bathroom, make each part of your home feel haunted! Write scary messages on your bathroom mirrors, kitchen cabinets and front door! This will really give your guests a spooky feeling! Set up your bathtub as a crime scene, using ketchup to look like blood and a scarecrow or Frankenstein as the victim! Use crepe paper throughout your house to bring Halloween colors inside, as well as fake spider webs and a fog machine to create a creepy, haunted look!
  5. Don’t forget to add sound effects! There are plenty of CD’s and Halloween themed apps you could incorporate into your party. Creepy sounds such as lightning, thunder, screams, banging doors, creaking floors and spooky laughs will shock your guests! Strategically place the sounds in the foyer, bathroom, by the food table and in the hallways.
