Weddings are all about personalization. Each and every detail should be personalized to you and your grooms personalities, likes and desires. It’s easy to add a monogram or wedding date to things. Take the extra step by personalizing other aspects of your wedding.
Here are 10 unique ideas to personalize your wedding, provided by BND.com (originally WeddingChannel.com).
- Get Creative with: Your Look- Your bridal look should be just as individual as you are. Even if you want to keep it traditional, add personal touches with gloves or colorful shoes, or spicing up your veil. Grooms should do the same. You could wear a hat, converse sneakers or sunglasses. Whatever it is that screams “you” incorporate into your look for your special day.
- Get Creative with: Your Bouquet- Your bouquet will appear in tons of photos, so make sure you love the way it looks! Mix in ribbons, feathers and rhinestones or go another route by tying a cameo, rosary or other keepsake to the stems.
- Get Creative with: Your Rings- Step up the personalization factor on your rings by having them engraved with your favorite song lyric or even an excerpt from a poem. Use your initials and wedding date, or the date you met, if you can’t fit a long verse.
- Get Creative with: Your Cocktails- Signature cocktails are a must for your special event. They can complement your color palette and help set the tone for the evening. Keep yours personal by using a creative garnish, or by naming each one after someone in the bridal party. For example, if your best man’s signature drink is a jack and coke, rename it for him, “Dan and Coke”, etc.
- Get Creative with: Your Entertainment- Give your guests plenty to do during the cocktail hour. Lawn games like croquet, bocce ball, beanbag toss and horseshoes are simple to set up and easy for kids and adults to learn and enjoy. Other entertainments like photo booths and caricatures are another fun way to keep guests smiling.
- Get Creative with: Your Table Numbers- Numbering your tables for practical purposes is just fine – but you can also go that extra step to make yours really stand out. Add in a couple of photos from places you’ve visited together, or have the number displayed with something meaningful, like other family names, your favorite bands or even classic board games.
- Get Creative with: Your Guest Book-Is there anything more personal than a fingerprint? An emerging trend is to ask guest to “sign” your guest book tree print with their fingerprints as leaves and their signatures nearby. It’s a unique twist to a traditional guest book.
- Get Creative with: Your Menu- Work with your caterer to create a dinner that’s totally you. Whether that means making a tasty vegetarian or vegan meal, or including a dessert that’s your grandmothers’specialty, you can let your guests know why you picked what you did with a small note on the menu.
- Get Creative with: Your Cake-If wedding cake just isn’t your thing, don’t serve wedding cake at your wedding! After all, it is YOUR wedding. A light alternative for a summer wedding could include angel food cake with fruits and whipped cream, ice cream sandwiches or small pies. Fall weddings could serve pumpkin pies, carrot cake or mini crème Brule to each guest. Whichever season you choose to tie the knot, don’t be afraid to change up the traditional wedding cake for something more you.
- Get Creative with: Your Favors- Gift your guests something fun, like colorful plastic sunglasses or themed props to use on the dance floor. Another growing trend is leaving them with something edible, like homemade wine, jams or baked goods. Be creative!
