Outdoor Party Tips

East Meadow Shopping Center

www.zacharysandaura.com (516) 794-9770

Are you considering throwing an outdoor party this summer? Here are some tips to ensure your party is a huge success!

1Drink Parasols- Add a festive and colorful umbrella to any drink to give it that extra something.

2. Poolside Party- Set up a couple of low colorful plastic tables around your pool area. Serve some small bites and cocktails and your party will be a huge hit amongst your guests!

3.  Outdoor Movie Party- At the end of a long summer day, what’s better than setting up a projector or television outside and showing a classic summer flick? Party starts at twilight!

4.  Multiple Beverage Stations- Setting up multiple beverage stations at your party will ensure that your guests can always get a refill without waiting. Galvanized tubs, colorful enamel buckets, and planters work perfectly. Place an assortment of drinks in each bin if they're destined for different locations throughout the yard. Or fill each container with a single type, such as imported beer, white wine, or bottled water. With ribbon, tether an opener to a handle of each bin; drape a dish towel nearby to take care of condensation.

5.  Pretty Paper Lanterns- Paper lanterns don’t necessarily need to be giving off light at your party. Set up some colorful paper lanterns and string them above your deck as a festive decoration.

Spring Wedding Tips: Embrace Spring and All of it's Traditions!

East Meadow Shopping Center
www.zacharysandaura.com (516) 794-9770

Spring weather is bound to have her ups and downs, but it doesn't mean your wedding day has to succumb to it.

It's almost impossible to predict what kind of weather conditions you will have on your special day, especially between March and the beginning of June. Don't let mother nature intimidate you. Instead, embrace spring and all of its traditions with a few tips in mind.

  • #1 Tip: Wedding Dresses were made for Spring. Unlike the summer months, Spring welcomes the full skirts with tulle and taffeta. Embrace your inner Disney Princess and go for it.
  • #2 Tip: Enhance the traditional white dress with a touch of pastels. Embrace the season and don't forget to use a tasteful amount of the powder blues and baby pinks.
  • #3 Tip: Do not torture your bridesmaids. You may not want them to have the same shawl ready for the brisk day in April, so let your lovely ladies keep warm with an open cardigan.
  • #4 Tip: Keep it Organic. Brighten up your decor with local flowers. You don't have to worry too much about keeping them alive if they're close by.
  • #5 Tip: Favors do not have to cost as much as the gift. Help your friends and family embrace their inner Martha (Stewart) by providing planting seeds for fruits and flowers.

Aura Featured in Newsday's Long Island Bars & Clubs Section!

East Meadow Shopping Center
www.zacharysandaura.com   (516) 794-9770
AURA Light & Sound Suite, Long Island’s newest and hottest nightlife venue, was featured in Newsday in the Long Island Bars and Clubs section.

The article, “Five new LI nightspots you’ll drink up,” highlights Aura, stating “we’re seeing new nightspots with atmospheres that resonate everything from ultrachic Manhattan to totally laid-back – so, whether you prefer hot drinks, cold beer or clever cocktails, there’s something that should please you,” (Newsday).

Newsday noted, at Aura “things have certainly changed within the walls that used to house The Savannah Club. The fancy sports bar-meets cigar lounge has been stripped away to form a Manhattan-like megaclub, complete with dynamic lighting and sound. LED displays flash overhead, and powerful dance beats boom through the circular space.”

Aura, which opened in September, has “attracted a more sophisticated crowd of those in their mid-20’s to mis-30s, dressed in anything between casual shirts to trendy club clothes.”

Aura Light & Sound Suite is open Thursdays & Fridays from 9:00pm to 4:00am, and Saturdays from 10:30pm to 4:00am. The admission fee is free on Thursdays, and $10 on Friday and Saturday nights.

Tips for Hosting a Spring BBQ!

East Meadow Shopping Center
www.zacharysandaura.com (516) 794-9770

With the beautiful weather here to stay, many people are going to get their BBQ’s going. Here are some tips to hosting an awesome Spring BBQ.

  • Make the BBQ a themed party! Try a pre-pool party, Hawaiian, country, celebrity costumes, etc.  event! Having a theme spices up the basic BBQ, and offers some great laughs!

  • Have you ever heard of an ice luge? It’s like an ice block with a tunnel in it! You can put your mouth at the end of it while someone pours liquor or other beverages down from the top! It’s a great addition to any outdoor party!

  • Provide lots of food! You don’t have to get crazy, but if people are drinking, they are usually looking for something to munch on. Offer traditional BBQ items like hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken skewers. Throw together a salad, or ask guests to each bring a side.

  • Bake some treats for late night snacks! Throwing in a batch of cookies or brownies doesn’t take much effort, but always goes over big! You can make these a day in advance to free up some time the day of the BBQ. Don’t leave them in sight, though! Your guests will sneak them before it’s even time to enjoy if you don’t hide them!

  • Enjoy the outdoors! Encourage your guests to stay outside and enjoy the weather. Have music playing outside and set up coolers along the backyard. Not only will this keep the mess outside, but the point of BBQ’s is to enjoy the weather!

As the day comes to an end, pick yourselves up and come down to Zachary’s and Aura night clubs for a full night of drinking, dancing and fun! Check out the Zachary’s & Aura Facebook pages for upcoming events, linked HERE.

Wine On A Dime!

East Meadow Shopping Center

Embrace Spring with flavorful red and white wines from all over the world! A great bottle or two from the West Coast or a spiced Malbec from Chile can relax your dinner party and create interesting conversations. Zacharys and Aura have found a great list of inexpensive wines that may intrigue your taste buds.

Provided by bites.today.msnbc.msn.com are a list of national and international wines that will suit the newcomers and the particular connoisseurs.
  • 2010 Hahn “Nicky Hahn” Pinot Noir- Monterey, California $12: Combining a red berry character with a peppery finish makes for a fresh take on a more delicate and fruity red wine.
  • 2011 Albamar Sauvignon Blanc, Casablanca- Valley, Chile $11: It was named for the foggy sunrises in Chile’s cool-climate Casablanca Valley and the refreshing bits of crisp citrus flavors.
  • 2010 Apaltagua Reserva Malbec- Maule Valley, Chile $12: Made in conjunction with one of Chile’s top winemakers, Alvaro Espinoza, this trending and complex drink goes hand-in-hand with a nice piece of steak.
  •  2010 Bodega Elena de Mendoza Chardonnay- Mendoza, Argentina $11: The great thing about a good bottle of Chardonnay is that it can stand alone, or work alongside a salad and a delectable cheese platter. The drink’s oaky character and fruit blend make for a wonderful drink.
Zacharys and Aura Light & Sound Suite can provide a cool and intimate atmosphere for you and your friends. Call us at 516-794-3091 to learn about our Premium Wine Package and our menu options that will work together in cuisine-harmony!
